SOCIETY…

When you think of your greatest influence, who/what do you rank at the top?

I hear these questions frequently, when are you getting married; why do you only have one child; or why do you want more children?  Then there are the follow-up questions, are you gay; are you able to have more children; and do you know you’re getting too old to have children?

My questions to them are, why do I have to be married by a certain age; why must I have multiple children; or why can’t I have multiple children?

People are so caught up in what society deems “normal” or “acceptable”, that they fail to realize they are not thinking for themselves.  Society has become their god and whatever appeals to society, they accept it and judge others by the standard. We have lost individuality…what is the real reason the divorce rate is so high and why is it that single parenting is now chosen by men and women? Why do we praise other human beings so much?

I would like your feedback, what are your thoughts on these questions?

  • I think it’s because in general, people are naturally nosy and might be questioning their own life choices. As a result they project their feelings on the first non-threatening target. My take on it is to give them back ownership of their issues. Particularly if you are comfortable with where you are, what you’re doing and where you’re going.

    • I agree… people often look at what they feel are their failures and classify them as other’s failure when the truth is, all our paths are different. ~Thanks for your input!

    • I agree Tara. People are no nosy for various reasons. And the haters are going to hate on you if married… single…. divorce. … rich… or poor….

  • Been getting the same flack for the past 10 years…..Yes, I only have 1 child and no I don’t think I should have had more because I have been divorced for 10 years and I do not believe in “babydaddies”…..that’s just not cute to me and the way my pockets are set up, I can’t afford that foolishness……Furthermore, if u don’t love me enough to marry me, I don’t love u enough to have a child with u. Society has no morals for the most part, so I don’t really get caught up in other people’s opinions of how my life should be led. Regardless of what u try to do in life, ppl will find a way to say something negative. Depending on who is asking the stupid question, I flip it right back to them and their life…..why do u have 5 children, no husband, and live off of the government???
